Alright, since I know we have at least one member who has Chaos weapons, I figured I'd do a relatively quick post about a few things I'd like to test. I've already done a fair bit of research into the matter and read/watched gaijin hunter's material, but there are still a few unanswered questions and points that I'd like some solid, old-fashioned, replication & confirmation for.
First-
I already know that the Chaos weapons still have a chance of landing anticrits even with Crit Draw. This of course suggests that the innate negative affinity component of Chaos weapons is somehow fixed or reserved.
However, I'd like to double-check/get a confirmation of whether Chaos weapons ever do regular hits under Critical Draw conditions.
That is, if you do a draw attack with Critical Draw active and a Chaos weapon-
[1] Does the draw attack result in either an anticrit or critical hit, but never a regular hit?
OR
[2] Can the draw attack result in an anticrit, regular, or critical hit?
Second-
Regarding the innate negative affinity component and how it is fixed/reserved-
I know that the ~negative side~ cannot be cancelled out by the likes of Critical Eye, and only the ~positive side~ is boosted by such affinity buffs normally.
However, I'd like a test/confirmation of whether the ~negative side~ is completely fixed or if it is influenced by negative affinity.
In other words-
[1] If you have the Critical Eye -1 skill active, for example, does it make the ~negative side~ of a Chaos weapon 10% lower, or does it just reduce the ~positive side~?
[2] If the wyvern frenzy virus finishes incubating before you can overcome it and you get the -15% affinity penalty, is that debuff applied to both sides of the Chaos weapon's innate affinity, or just the ~negative side~, or just the ~positive side~?
Aaaand...that's pretty much all for now.
Thanks.
If you're wondering why I'm asking for so much detail - at some point within the next week, I intend to actually finish my write-up on affinity in MH4U, in which I cover the basic mechanics of affinity and some methods for accounting for it in terms of damage estimates/calculations. Ideally, I'd like to also give Chaos weapons special attention, but again, so far I haven't found any source that thoroughly covers all the details, and unfortunately I'm not at a point where I can readily test them myself (and even if I could test them myself, it's always useful to have a second set/independent tester to confirm/challenge results).
