So I have some stories to start. As some people heard last night, I watched someone explode on Brachydios's back. Apparently Blastblight is still active upon a mount. It was so sad to watch, as I realized he was lit when the mount began. I watched on the entire time, until suddenly *BOOM*

Brachy was probably one hit from a topple. So sad...

Then today, I met one of the IS/IG Jump attack spammers. I am not even sure if he was trolling or not. Because it is all he ever did against Gore. And he also double carted, against very easy to dodge positions. It's like Gore was preparing to do his explosion, and he ran from behind Gore to in front of him. That kinda thing. Luckily we still beat gore, but it was a lot less worth it.

Who else has stories?

I've told quite a few people about my favorite moments in monster hunter, but they have all been in 3U so far. 4U has supplied me with some fairly unpleasant moments however.

While trying to complete The Caravaneer's Challenge, I was making far more progress than I ever had before. I had been facing Shagaru for a while and was at the point where I could just feel that he was nearly dead. I rolled to evade an attack... and one of his frenzy geyser spouts appeared right in front of me. Right then i knew it was over. I get hit by the burst, and sent flying right in front of Shagaru, who was charging up an explosive frenzy blast. The challenge ended there.

About a week ago I had some spare time so I decided to do a high rank double Velocidrome expedition. As I was drinking a potion due to being at about half health, one of the dromes decided to come target me and did their little claw swipe attack which happened to push me right next to my palico that the other drome was targeting with a leap. I carted. I was not pleased.

Guhh... tonight ended poorly with Garuga.

A lot of people today who can't read, as every time I posted a Kut-ku GQ room for Ears, I had at least one person come in and immediately post Grudge match. You can specifically search for Arena for a reason. Then with Garuga, I just had a guy ask if we were doing High Rank... when the room was marked 1-30. Luckily I was already done by then, but still.

What did anger me is the CA user who tripped me more than all IS users I've played with so far, combined. No joke, 10 times per hunt, and we did two hunts together. I nearly died multiple times they tripped me so badly. Then after, we got a Hammer user who couldn't hammer to save their life. Every single super pound launched me. 3 or 4 of them, pounded me out of a lvl 3 GS charge. Garuga's head is pretty damn big. How are you hitting me as I'm aiming for the legs or tail, and he's currently not moving?

Both of these people did not let Garuga go to sleep so I could charge his face in. But at least I learned Kirin's GS was not worth the effort?

I have both a good and a bad story from today.

While working online, a HR1 joined in wanting to hunt Dah'ren. Since they asked nicely, and no one else was in the room, I agreed to help. First thing they took was the ballista binder. You can probably guess where this is headed. As soon as the binder is ready, they fire it regardless of anything else. Which meant that whenever the gong was blocked, which this Dah'ren sure liked doing, I could do nothing at all to stop it. At least they didn't know how to use the dragonator, or the ship probably would have fallen apart. I'm actually glad I killed the thing almost out of the carving zone, meaning they only got three carves.

As for the good, it happened while facing down Fatalis with my brother. Fatalis had already killed us twice through learning what not to do, and had just unleashed an explosive burst to knock my brother down into very low HP and was already setting up another while my brother was still trying to get up. I was holding a cannonball at the time, leaving me two choices. I could roll to drop the cannonball and hope to multi-heal in time, or I could fire the cannon.

Cannonball flinched him so hard that he fell down, ruining his attack. The fight was fairly easy from there.

As Rangeth already knows, it was offline's turn to give my a hard time. Mostly in the form of my cat. Nerscylla is a giant jerk in HR, and spends way too much time forcing you on top of the canopy if you wanna actually fight. Every fight progressively got worse, and I performed worse, until the 4th run. 3 jump attacks landed, no mount. 4 more jump attacks missed. Another attack, instant mount, and I fail because I forgot how stupid long Nerscylla's shaking goes on for. Another attack, I somehow instant mount again. What?!

Then the next fight... Oh the next fight. I mounted her almost instantly that time, and my cat goes and places a shock trap right under her, ruining the mount. I proceeded to go completely rage mode and take less hits than any fight I was playing careful. The cat did the same thing when I fought Emerald Congalala. Very quickly I mounted to get off some easy hits, and boom, shock trap.

Then I met Plesidrome and was so upset.

Tonight was just a chain of good moments one after another. Ended up in a really awesome team with some great teamwork.

We killed some Brachydios, I got a gem.
We killed a pair of Rathalos, I upgraded my Brachy HH twice, and got two Rath Rubies.
We killed Teostra sub 8 minutes, I got a gem. I also tanked his giant fireball explosion from about half health and lived.
I made Kushala Daora weep with Wind Resistance from my HH, then we took him down hard. Silver crown and I got a gem.
We took Mohran down in less than 13 minutes, didn't even get to use the dragonator.
Three of us took down Dalamadur in just over fifteen minutes.
One of the hunters reached the HR breaking point. They ended up at 42.

This night was just crazy with awesomeness. Plus I learned that my HH skills haven't grown rusty since 3U. Buffs for everyone!

I mentioned this in the progress topic, but there I didn't mention how annoying GS without focus was. I said as much to Raven in the chat box. Not hours later did I get a FastCharge+5 Charm, with 2 slots.

I just made my worst mistake during a hunt yet. Rangeth, another hunter named Chaos, and myself were trying to cap a Tidal Najarala. It went into the area where it sleeps, but no one saw it limp, so I figured it wasn’t tired yet. I went in for a rodeo, only to find that it had just confused Chaos, had him almost dead, and in its coils. I couldn't stop and the rodeo began, instantly killing him. Once the rodeo ended I attacked the Tidal Najarala and it suddenly died, while the other hunter was still on his way back to the room. He managed to get there in time for at least some of his carves, but I felt terrible about the blunder, especially since Chaos is such a good hunter and had been dishing out massive amounts of damage.

You know those Randoms that end up making you hate them? Not the ones who are just annoying, but the ones you actively hate and requested get booted from the room before the quest had even ended? I didn't until recently.

So I'm working with a team trying to take down G-Rank Furious Rajangs, aiming to break to horns as much as possible. So I have my status LBG up, setting up for some serious sleep bombing. The other two people, one being Chaos, are stocked up on bombs just for this. In walks the GS user straight out of my hunting nightmares. We tell him what we're planning and to use bombs, and he agrees. So we set out for victory.

Shortly after, I manage to shoot the savage simian into sweet slumber, and the three intelligent hunters on this quest run up to place their bombs. What does Mr. GS do? He runs up as we're setting our first bombs and swings his sword. Not even a L3, just a draw attack right into the group.  So we all get blown up, Rajang doesn't feel a thing, and now he's angry and carts the GSer pretty-much immediately after. The other hunter, beside Chaos and I, ends up carting to a wall combo, leaving us with one life. Then the horns break. Things are going amazing, then comes Mr. Gs. No more than a minute after the horns break, we're sitting back in the lobby with three cart.

I have kicked people before, but I have never asked for someone to be kicked before. Chaos was running the room, and he got a fairly blunt message in the chat during the quest failed screen: "KICK THE GS USER!"

It never felt so good seeing that "Left the room" message.

PostSubject: Re: Hunting Stories (The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly)   Hunting Stories (The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly) EmptySun Apr 26, 2015 11:48 am

This happened about a week ago, but I feel like it's worth telling.

I was helping some G1 hunters with Nerscylla, with the only quest with it as the main target being a capture quest, so being careful not to accidentally kill it is key of course. We had already done a few runs, all went smoothly. Then during another run, it was about to be wrapped up. The trap was set and the limping Nerscylla had just walked onto it. Everyone had their tranqs ready, including me. Then I proceeded to make the most ridiculous mistake. My finger slips and instead of throwing my tranq bomb, I unsheathe my weapon onto the monster with a single strike. That was all it took to kill it. Quest failed.

I apologized profusely after we got back and they were forgiving, but I honestly found it more hilarious than upsetting. I couldn't have pulled off a more effective "troll-the-whole-team" move even if I tried.

Yeah, actually managing to do something like that totally makes up, in my mind, for a failed quest. One really awesome or hilarious moment is worth losing victory for, because those are honestly part of what makes hunting worthwhile.

And, not a good or bad event, but instead a humorous situation:

I was part of a group, I think it was Chaos and Azure, helping Ragnia capture Seltas Queens in order to make his first G-Rank armor set. So I get into place with my LGB, set to paralyze it for everyone to gang up on it with ease. I load up my para ammo, take aim... and Ragnia, using his HR SA, has already paralyzed the thing. So I'm sitting there with a gun full of para, watching the bug queen twitch.

So I started sniping the Seltas with crag shot to keep him off of her back so I could at least do something useful.

Ragnia, stop being better at paralysis than the status gunner. XD

I do what I want, you're not my dad! :V

Also, I may or may not have just woken up a Zamtrios 3 times after discussing putting it to sleep. I'm sorry Rangeth and Chaos Sad

It was mildly upsetting the first time, funny the second, and hilarious the third time. It makes for a great story too. XD

I don't mind, it's only a Zamtrios. I mostly chose Facemelter for the song list, not the sleep power anyway.
